This is NEVER a true statement. No one is making you feel anything. YOU are creating feelings of anger, guilt, sadness, etc. and then acting in a particular way based on those feelings. I know that many of you will want to argue with me. You want to blame anyone and anything except yourself, but the hard and fast truth is this:
YOU create YOUR feelings based on YOUR beliefs and YOUR behavior is the result
Does it make you uncomfortable to be told that YOU are responsible for your emotions, moods and behavior? If so, that’s ok. Don’t run from the truth because it makes you uncomfortable. Take a minute to let it sink in. Once you REALLY understand this, that is when GREAT CHANGE can take place. If you are responsible, then you can change what you are doing, feeling, creating.
Since your emotions, moods and behavior are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, changing your behavior becomes easier.
How can I say that? Think about it…
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF
Your life is YOURS. No one else is making you mad! Your job isnt making you miserable! The weather is not why you are depressed.
This is not something we are taught. If I were completely blunt, I would say that we are actually taught the opposite! We learn from those around us, and MOST PEOPLE want to blame all their problems on other people, past events and anything but themselves. This keeps most people trapped in a cycle of victim – perpetrator – rescuer. No one wins in this triangle of co-dependence and self-sabotage.
